Tim's Testimonial:

Everyone benefits with a connection to food: the farmer, the consumer, and all points in between. My experience as a part-time microfarmer has been fulfilling and is part of my decades-long dream of being  part of our food system.

My involvement with RGO began as a participant in the OSU Mansfield project and I now serve on the RGO board of directors. This has been my entry into practicing small scale agriculture. I work with farmers for my day job, but this opportunity to learn while growing brings an entirely new appreciation to the industry.

The potential of RGO and small scale agriculture is significant, but it's also a ton of work. Without partnerships along the value chain, including consumers, institutions, restaurants, growers and others, the opportunities to build capacity in the space will remain stunted. The proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child," can be co-opted to refer to small scale and urban farming. We can all help play a part in building the vitality and resilience of small scale farmers.
